YouTube Celebrates Its 6th Birthday But Are Recruiters Utilising Online Video Enough?

YouTube celebrated its 6th Birthday in May having been officially launched in May 2005. They have also updated their stats in terms of usage which are as follows:

  • There are now more than 48 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute.
  • They experienced a 37% increase in videos uploaded per minute over the last six months and a 100% increase from last year.
  • They passed 3 billion views in one day which was a 50% increase compared to last year.

People tend to think of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter when talking about Social Media but in reality YouTube is also a social network where people share videos. You will have probably been sent a link or seen a link to a YouTube video yourself in the last 30 days? Or you may even have passed on details of a video yourself?

With YouTube officially the second largest search engine in the world (Google is number one) there are millions of people every day looking for information. And some of the information they are searching for is job and recruitment related!

Creating your own recruitment videos doesn’t have to be that complicated and in some cases you don’t even need a video camera to create a recruitment video!  So if you are anxious about appearing in a video then don’t worry as there are plenty of alternatives to getting your videos onto YouTube.
